Welcome to the Mary's Cup of Tea podcast. I'm your host, Mary Jilkovsky. I'm an author,

0:07.7

speaker, and all-around self-love advocate. And this is the podcast that will inspire you to love

0:14.6

yourself. Hey, self-lovers, it feels so good to be back podcasting again. Well, you didn't notice my absence

0:25.8

because I pre-recorded last month's episodes while I was away in Spain hosting a self-love

0:34.9

retreat. But I haven't actually sat behind the microphone and did a solo

0:40.0

episode like this in over a month. And I'm really excited to share with you a quick tip for

0:48.2

more gratitude. This is basically an ongoing gratitude practice. One technique that I've been using for, gosh,

0:57.6

almost six years ago ever since I learned it from one of my coaches. And it's the easiest thing in

1:03.3

the world. It's honestly so easy. It's almost annoying. Like it's one of those things that

1:08.3

you're going to roll your eyes when you hear me say it.

1:11.0

But I promise that if you practice this at least a couple times a day or just whenever you remember it,

1:19.5

it'll instantly make a difference in your mood, your happiness, and just how you feel about yourself and the world around you. So here's the scoop.

1:30.4

You know how whenever we're talking about our day or thinking about the things we have to do,

1:38.9

we use those words. I have to go to work. I have to pick up my kids. I have to eat something.

1:50.3

I have to go see my parents. And we constantly are saying, I have to, I have to, I have to, I have to, I have to, I have to.

2:00.0

And the truth is, you don't have to do

2:04.4

shit. You may think that you do. You may feel like you do. You may have convinced yourself that all

2:12.1

these horrible, awful things will happen if you don't do it. And that's a totally different

2:17.2

conversation.

2:19.2

But one thing that I've been doing, like I said, almost six years now is instead of saying,

2:28.9

I have to, I say I get to. And like I said, it's super annoying. Honestly, sometimes you're going to say things like,

2:38.8

I get to go respond to these emails that have been sitting in my inbox for weeks and are stressing me out.
