Hello from CNN, I'm Anna Sturla with the five things you need to know for Tuesday, September 26.

Midnight Saturday, that's the deadline for Congress to pass a funding bill and avoid a government shutdown.

There's just five days to go and still no viable plan.

Party leaders in both the House and the Senate are trying to pass a short-term funding extension.

But a group of conservative hardliners in the House

have refused to support a stopgap measure.

CNN's Mani Raju says House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has been trying to split the difference

between both parties priorities.

He doesn't have the votes because he is included in this plan spending cuts,

the Democrats won't accept, border security measures that the Democrats won't accept,

but the cuts don't go far enough for some members on his far right, which

means that he doesn't have the 218 votes to get this out of his chamber.

A shutdown would have a cascading effect on federal agencies and programs.

The White House warning today it would undermine national security.

Hunter Biden is suing Rudy Giuliani and his former attorney, alleging they violated state and federal privacy laws by hacking into his devices.

The President's son is claiming they caused, quote, total annihilation of his digital privacy,

by spending years hacking into tampering with manipulating and

generally obsessing over data taken or stolen from his devices.

Essentially what Hunter Biden lays out here is that he says

Rudy Giuliani and Robert Costello got access to a hard drive or data taken from a

laptop that Hunter Biden says he won't admit that that's his laptop but at least some of the data that they got he says is his or was his and then Rudy Giuliani and Robert Costello he says then proceeded to get into that
