Just 10 days before he takes office, President-elect Donald Trump has been sentenced for his involvement in a hush money scheme. The judge gave him an unconditional release, which means

he won't have to serve any jail time or pay any penalties. But he will be inaugurated as the first

U.S. president in history to have a criminal

record. It comes after months of delays and appeals, as well as a last-minute attempt to get

the Supreme Court to halt the proceedings. Trump appeared in court virtually and continued

to dismiss his conviction as politically motivated.

It's been a political witch hunt.

It was done to damage my reputation.

But the fact is that I'm totally innocent.

I did nothing wrong.

Trump also says he's going to appeal.

CNN's Keras Kahnel was in court this morning and says the judge told Trump the election influenced his decision.

He was underscoring that he felt it was important today.

The people had voted and spoke, and Trump was going into the office.

And because of the importance of the office, this was the most viable sentence.
