Hi, from CNN, I'm Emily Williams with the five things you need to know for Thursday

September 26th Hurricane Helene is continuing to intensify as it moves toward the

Florida Panhandle.

Local officials are warning residents to not underestimate this storm.

There's going to reach a point where you're on your own

because we're not going to get our people killed because you don't want to listen to what we're saying.

It's just too dangerous.

That's the sheriff of Pinellas County, Florida, making an urgent plea to residents under mandatory evacuation orders.

Helene is a category 2 storm now and is expected to strengthen before making landfall tonight.

While Northwestern Florida is in the storm's direct path, Helene's impacts are being

felt throughout the southeast. Rainfall from the storm could produce life-threatening

flooding throughout the region, and 3.5 million people in parts of eastern Georgia and

much of South Carolina are under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. tonight.

The Israeli military says it's carrying out precise strikes in Lebanon's capital Beirut.

Lebanese state media report that Israeli warplanes launched three missiles targeting an

apartment in a densely populated area known to have a strong Hezbollah presence.
