Hello from CNN, I'm Joe Beck. With the five things you need to know for Friday, October 27th.

As police desperately search for the suspected gunman,

we're learning more about some of the 18 people killed in the main mass shootings.

I'm very proud of my son.

Lee Roy Walker says his son Joseph was the manager of the restaurant that was attacked

in Lewiston and said he was shot and killed when he tried to take down the shooter.

Loved by many, loved by myself and he would love back to everybody.

So I know he would do such a thing to try to save lives

and not let somebody hurt the people that he loved.

Police say the suspect is 40-year-old Robert Card, an Army reservist and certified firearms

instructor.

And experts say his background could be making it harder for officers to track him down, because he's had military training,

is reportedly a skilled outdoorsman, and allegedly planned the attack.

A state official says divers will search waters near where the suspect's car was found.

Police haven't given a motive, but law enforcement sources say Card recently broke up with his girlfriend,

and one theory is that the bowling alley and restaurant that were attacked were places the couple would go regularly.

There's been quote significant progress in the negotiations to release the hostages held by Hamas.
