Israel's cabinet is delaying a vote on a hostage and ceasefire deal with Hamas, with just days to go before the first phase of the truce is slated to start.

They're blaming Hamas for going back on parts of the agreement, something Hamas denies.

And as CNN's Bionna Golodriga explains, there's a new hurdle.

Another setback for the Netanyahu government now is finance minister Bezal Smotrich, saying that his coalition would not stay in the government if after phase one of this deal, the IDF, Israel did not resume fighting in Gaza.

And of course, that is not the deal that was agreed to in terms of the phasing out of the ceasefire.

Nonetheless, everyone I've spoken to at this point still believes that this deal will go through.

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is also confident.

Over 15 months of devastating conflict between Israel and Hamas, we've worked to broker a deal

that would bring hostages home, that would stop the fighting, that would surge humanitarian aid

to people who so desperately needed, that would create the space to conclude a permanency's fire. We now have that, and we expect

implementation of the agreement to begin on Sunday. President-elect Donald Trump has assembled

an administration of Uber wealthy cabinet members and advisors, some of whom will face tough questions from senators

today in their confirmation hearings.

Hedge fund executive Scott Bessent is in the hot seat as the Treasury Secretary nominee,

and so is former North Dakota Governor Doug Bergam, Trump's pick to be the Secretary of the Interior.

Bessent outlined his economic priorities before the Senate Finance Committee,

including making the 2017 tax cuts permanent and a more aggressive trade agenda.

Trump takes office on Monday, with the new administration expected to unleash a wave of early executive orders

to undo President Joe Biden's policies.
