What's popping everybody? Hello and welcome to Popcorn Culture. My name is Ben Karlin and I am your host, here with me today is my brother Jay, who will be in every episode.

0:25.0

I sat down on the little unsure over there. What was the hesitation? I debated on having a different guest at short notice.

0:32.0

Short notice. Don't want to be Jay today. Yeah, well, I'm already here. So you're already in the chair.

0:39.0

There would have been real late notice. I'm going to need you to leave. Can I ask you a question? If you were to go on one of the late night shows where you like walk out and talk to one of the late night hosts, what stories would you tell the you think?

0:54.0

Would you have a go to? Because they always have some type of like, we're relatable anecdote about something that is existing in their world.

1:04.0

That is a great question and I suspect that for the most part they are able to answer with such confidence and readiness because they know the questions are coming ahead of time.

1:13.0

So it's like, think about it. And then the host has to react to whatever they say. Maybe they know the questions. They don't know what the person is going to say.

1:21.0

Oh, that's a good point. That's a good point because I guess there's probably like almost, yeah, I mean, surely the people are prompted because otherwise it would be like, so what's new in your life? And it's like nothing.

1:31.0

Yeah, I'm doing nothing. I don't know. You know, I just made a movie. It's like what I'm here to talk about. So I wasn't in it. You should see it.

1:37.0

I should see it. I'm going to have something humble that I'm going to say.

1:40.0

You know, this has been like a weird thing that like the further I've gotten into like YouTube and stuff is is like whenever we do interviews and stuff, like a lot of times people will send us the questions ahead of time so that we can like have an idea of what to say.

1:55.0

Yes.

1:55.0

But when I was in school, like learning about journalism and the news, like, they're like in multiple classes, they were like never telling them the questions ahead of time.

2:06.0

So I'm always like, these people are messing up. They shouldn't be telling me the question. This is a mistake.

2:12.0

They have no journalist integrity.

2:15.0

Nothing. But then I'm also like I'm on the receiving end of it. I think it's really nice. I said, but the question's head of time. This makes it so much easier.

2:22.0

It's just like it's this weird. Like I learned a rule. And like I have probably for like real journalism. Like where you needed to like try and like catch people off guard with questions and get real honest answers.

2:32.0

And like you don't want them to be able to have like a prepared statement for you. Yeah. That makes more sense. Whereas like anyone who's interviewing us about being YouTubers or something, it's probably just like a nice like fluff piece.

2:42.0

And we just want to get to know you. So yeah, whatever.

2:45.0

I have such mixed feelings about this exact thing because I frequently feel like we'll just use like the White House for example. They'll have like a press conference for

2:52.0

a bunch of people there and they're asking all these questions. And if very frequently it feels like someone might give an answer that ultimately ends up being a good news story.

3:02.0

It's like like that they'll say blah blah blah blah blah. And they're like, whoa, this person said this. And sometimes I do have that feeling of like if you're asking people on the spot questions about like maybe the state of the entire country or like
