And no-Take-Baxes, because a lot of you have asked, you know, why don't more lawyers or prosecutors do

But it's not about us today. We are back to everyone's favorite topic. Some of this might be true for some of you. I'd say

50-50. Some of you are cursing the subject and the other half are saying finally

someone explaining what's happening. We are revisiting Karen Reed briefly from the legal brief side

because as you probably have seen in the news there was trial, we covered it at length if you want to go listen

to the many, many episodes of it on our other feed the prosecutor's podcast.

And if, spoiler alert, if you have not reached the end of that or haven't read any news about it for the last month

the jury came back as a hung jury so it was a miss trial meaning there was no guilty and no acquittal.

And following this, the defense filed a motion

to dismiss certain counts.

And there has been a ruling in that case,

so that's what we are talking about today, but we are using Karen Reed as a vehicle to explain what this filing means and what happens.

So don't worry, this is not going to be Karen Reed Heavy. It's a vehicle to understand the legal mechanisms that are at play here.
