I'm Darkness prevails, and tonight we open with a solo overnighter in a state forest,

where a camper realizes the branches above

aren't empty at all. Cat-sized gray winged shapes perched just past the firelight, track his

steps from tree to tree, and test the lines over his head. From there, we walk a timber boundary

where fresh ties won't stay where they're put,

and a shut-see-c-seashack proves it isn't as abandoned as it looks.

Then it's a roadside campsite that answers a whistle with your own voice from the tree line,

and a Twilight Trail run paced by clicks of stone, that never fall behind.
