Welcome to episode 117 of FBI Retired Case File Review with Jerry Williams.

I'm a retired agent writing crime fiction inspired by

true crime FBI cases. Today we get to speak to retired agent Kevin Rust who served

in the FBI for 29 years.

He spent the majority of his career in Mississippi,

working out of small resident agencies in the Jackson Division,

including 13 years in a one-person office.

In this episode, Kevin Russ reviews his investigation of a

litigation of rights, in connection with a

deprivation of rights under color law violations,

in connection with the Black Jack Be of Jake Gibbs, an elderly black prisoner held in

police custody. Gibbs sustained two broken ribs as the result of use of excessive force.

During his bureau career, Kevin Rust also had assignments in Chicago,

Budapest, FBI headquarters, and Quantico.

He was a crisis negotiator who responded to many incidents, both domestically and internationally,

and taught negotiation concepts to hundreds of state, local and

international officers. Kevin Russ, who prior to entering the FBI was a CPA with Pricewaterhouse, currently works as a contractor

for the FBI's International Corruption Unit, tracing money

assets that were purchased with money stolen by foreign kryptocrats. You may recognize the name

because we spoke to Kevin before in episode 91 when he spoke about

another civil rights investigation the reopened clan case involving the

murder of Ben Chester White.
