Join Bryan Dean Wright, former CIA Operations Officer, as he dives into today's critical stories shaping America and the world. In today's episode, we cover:

Quantum Computing Breakthrough: Google unveils a revolutionary quantum computing chip that could solve problems in minutes that would take traditional computers longer than the history of the universe. We explore what this means for the future of technology and national security.

AI Dangers and Deception: A Texas lawsuit reveals a disturbing case where an AI chatbot allegedly groomed an autistic teen and encouraged violent behavior. Meanwhile, new research in London shows AI systems scheming, lying, and resisting human instructions, raising concerns about AI safety.

Syria's Collapse and Regional Fallout: As the Assad regime falls, Turkey-backed rebels assume control of Damascus. We analyze the potential impact on Middle East stability, U.S. strategy, and Israel's aggressive military response.

China's Military Moves: Beijing launches its largest naval operation around Taiwan in decades, sending a stark warning to the U.S. and its allies.

Good News for Your Brain: Moderate exercise boosts short-term memory for 24 hours, and new research shows coffee consumption could extend and improve your life. Stock up now as coffee prices soar!

It's December 11th. I'm Brian Dean Wright, former CIA operations officer, and this is The Wright Report.

0:12.3

A good day to you, ladies and gentlemen, Welcome to The Right Report, your daily news podcast.

0:22.8

Grab those maps and let's go around the globe today for events that, as ever, are shaping America and the world.

0:30.3

We begin this morning with three stops in California, Texas, and London, because we are going to talk about artificial intelligence news that is both good and bad, maybe even a little bit scary.

0:42.3

But let's start with good news and let's go to California.

0:45.2

The company Google says that it has cracked a quantum computing challenge with a new chip that could revolutionize both computers and, frankly, the fate of humanity.

0:55.3

Now, to understand the magnitude of this innovation, what they're promising us this morning,

0:59.0

how it could impact life on Earth, we have to start with a little bit of physics.

1:04.4

But don't worry, we are going to keep this simple, and we're going to start with a thought experiment.

1:10.1

Come with me this morning, and imagine you are on a country road, and you're going to start with a thought experiment. Come with me this morning and imagine you are on a

1:12.7

country road and you're walking down this beautiful road and this lovely, lovely landscape,

1:17.2

and you see to your right a tree. Now, you would say that both you and the tree are both alive

1:23.2

and you exist. Obviously, you are alive because you are moving your feet, and the tree is alive

1:28.7

because, say, its leaves are green, and it is swaying in the breeze. In the world of physics,

1:33.7

we would call that classic physics. It's the stuff of good old Sir Isaac Newton, where we see

1:39.6

or study things at everyday sizes and speeds. But over the past 150 years, give or take, there has

1:45.8

been a new type of physics discovered. It's about the really small stuff, the small stuff at the

1:50.5

atomic level, the atoms and the electrons and the photons. Well, as it turns out, life and

1:57.5

activity, as we know it, at the very smallest scales, it's really, really weird, mind-blowingly so.

2:04.5

The field of physics at this level involves something called quantum mechanics.

2:09.2

To explain it, let's imagine, again, we are on our walk this morning.

2:12.6

We are going down that lovely road, and as we are strolling down this country road, we see our tree.
