Summary

You’ve heard it before – “The best way to eat goose meat is to wrap it in bacon, cook it, throw the goose meat away and eat the bacon.” – Is the bad reputation for their meat well deserved? Could it just be that a lot of people cook it wrong? Mark and Jimmy, after our Boats and Bows adventure, where we shot down two Canada Geese, set out to decide for themselves once and for all if goose meat sucks. Armed with salt, pepper, their favorite garlic powder, a hot plate, a cast iron skillet and some oil, they cook it up live on this podcast as straight up rare/medium-rare steaks for a final verdict. What do you think about goose meat? Any other great recipes in your arsenal?

and we are going to eat it at its kind of most simple form.

We've got a cast iron skillet here, a hot plate,

0:28.6

hopefully some fire alarms that aren't going to go off.

We got a fair amount of smoke here.

It's fine. But we've

0:33.4

taken this, we've trimmed it up, we took all the silver skin off. It really

0:36.6

looks like a steak, Jim. Yeah, it does. We've seasoned it with salt, pepper,

0:41.6

garlic salt.

Yeah, so I think, you know, on Instagram we posted a little teaser or something along those lines of the fact that we were cooking some goose meat, you know, it came from the most recent pod venture I believe

0:54.4

this is going to release right before our pod venture even perhaps comes out or

0:57.4

maybe even after who knows whatever but you know got some geese you know I

1:01.7

wouldn't even say these are the pinnacle of an example of proper

1:06.0

in-field meat care, you know, I mean we shot them. It's not that we did it improperly, but we shot them.

They hung out with us in a boat for a little bit. Then we took him out. We were going to breast him out, but then we were joined by the people of the North and we felt uncomfortable. So we left and then they sat with us in the back of a trailer for a little bit in a boat and they found their way

1:23.5

eventually to a campsite where we had our van parked. We quick breasted them out and

1:29.6

even got the legs out while being attacked by 10 million mosquitoes so it wasn't even the

1:34.2

greatest job ever. Eric left some leaves and feathers and stuff all over these so

1:38.4

we will be getting a very realistic test I would say you know it's not like it's not like we we breasted these things out in a vacuum chamber a clean room or something
