They're ready to do what Democrats wouldn't let them.

Now that those lawmakers who left the state to block on congressional redistricting are back at the Capitol,

the Republican-led Texas House plans to vote today on the new maps that could give Republicans five more House seats in next year's elections.

Texas Democrats, though, are not giving up and say that they now plan to fight the map in court

by arguing that it was drawn not along partisan lines, but along racial lines, which is against

the Constitution.

The chair of the Texas House Democrats told me they are optimistic they will be able to win

those court challenges.

Fox is Garrett-Tenny in Austin. Republicans in California are also going to court to block Governor

Gavin Newsom's retaliation. A plan the Democratic-controlled legislature may approve tomorrow to set up a

special election in November asking voters to approve new districts to give Democrats five more House seats in the next

Tell Fox, D.C. police statistics show violent crime down 26% from last year, but members of the Trump administration, the DOJ,

and others dispute those numbers and point to reports of a D.C. police detective who was put on leave

earlier this year pending an investigation into potentially fudging some numbers.
