Shocking, scandalous. Today the Vatican released the preface written by Pope Francis to serve as the forward to James Martin, the Jesuit, his latest book, it's called Come Forth, the promise of Jesus' greatest miracle.

Now, I'm going to read the passage from John's gospel today.

The story of Lazarus is about a dead man in a tomb.

Jesus comes, this is where Jesus weeps,

short his verse in the Bible,

and he tells Lazarus, come forth,

and a dead man, come forth, comes comes forth out of the tomb. A miracle, amazing

miracle of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. James Martin uses it as an analogy of coming out of the closet for those in the LGBT lifestyle.

Do you find that? convincing.

Do you find that as something that integrates into historic traditional Catholicism or is it an innovation?

That's what we're going to talk about today.

What is meant by come forth?

Now here is, before I get into Lazarus and get into the book

and then Francis writing the preface about it,

let's look at James Martin, the Jesuit, and what he has to say about this. Here's a quote.

All right. Coming out is often a critical step for LGBTQ people who are sometimes told either overtly or covertly that they should not mistake, less valuable than straight people, or less valuable than

straight people, or less worthy of love and affection. Or worse of all that God doesn't love them."

End quote. So this is what coming out means for James Martin.

Alternatively, I have seen in culture,

I'm an American, I have seen that coming out is usually not a cry for God's love or the permission to love themselves, it's usually a celebration,

usually a celebration, usually coupled with pride,

pride parades.
