So you came to New York to work in art? Yeah, I came specifically to study art history. My undergraduate degree was in art history and very, very kind of targeted already at that point I was kind of a Germanophile, so I wanted to,

I was a little bit torn between Northern Renaissance art and contemporary painting, but in the end I wanted to do that.

And there was, there was someone, someone a professor Columbia that I like I

basically targeted him I wanted to study with him I came here to do that and and he said no

so that was that was kind of a bummer.

You were like, come on man.

Yeah, it was weird. I was very, I was very good friends with a number of professors kind of in his circles and I still remember there was a dinner party and it was very bizarre.

I mean I just come to New York I was you know I'd sort of I was in Pittsburgh before and

then I went to Penn State so it's not like I was used to kind of high-powered

New York intellectual circles it It was not my regular.

A lot of steel workers in Pittsburgh, like throwing around.
