Today, the inquiry released written statements from some of the bereaved survivors and residents of Grenfell Tower.

They included Adriana Ramirez, who before the fire, lived with her husband, Romero, and their two daughters, Jessica and Melanie, in flat 176 on the 20th floor.

Twelve-year-old Jessica died at Grenfell.

In the afternoon before the fire, Adriana Ramirez saw Jessica at home after she'd returned from school.

Jessica went to use the gym and Adriana went to work.

It was the last time she saw her daughter alive.

Later on that night, Adriana Ramirez went to her friend's house to deliver some medicine.

She was still there in the early hours of the morning when she got a call from her husband,

but didn't pick

up because it was late. Counsel to the inquiry, Shanti Sivukumaran read from her account of the night.

Shortly after this, though, I received a call from Melanie. She was crying and told me there's

a fire at Grenfell. She said she was at the building trying to get in, but she couldn't.

I immediately booked an Uber to pick me up and take me to Grenfell Tower.

A few minutes later, while I was in the Uber, I got a call from a number that my mobile phone didn't recognize.

It was Jessica.

She said there was a fire and that she was on the landing on the 18th floor.

I could hear other voices in the background. I told her to

run down the stairs and out the building as quickly as she could, and then I would be downstairs waiting
