He writes political economics. He's in London about the BBC Bruhaha these last weeks about an edit that distorted the facts about January 6, 2021 and the president of the United States.

Well, I think that there have been a couple of resignations,

the director general Tim Davy and the former director of the news business, news division.

Deborah Turneris both fell on their swords and resigned as a result of this scandal.

We'll see if any more people end up leaving as the fallout from this continues.

I think it's important to understand, though, that the Trump angle of this is actually quite a small part of the scandal.

I mean, this is all broken loose in the past couple weeks because someone leaked to the telegraph newspaper an internal report that had been prepared by a journalist named Michael Prescott for the BBC's own internal standards committee, sort of the journalist quality enforcement. And it was a long report about a lot of instances of bias at the BBC. The Trump edit on the Panorama

program that happened in October of 2024 was a particularly flagrant violation of journalistic

standards, especially because we now know that they had also done that on a different program called News Night two years earlier and had been called out on it. So they did it again. But that's minor compared to some of the other infractions in that report. So...
