Summary

ELOREA Co-Founders (and real-life husband and wife duo) Wonny Lee and Su min Park are in the Perfume Room today! ELOREA is a fragrance brand dedicated to capturing, preserving, and sharing the stories of Korea's rich history of fragrance.  The concept for ELOREA came to the pair during a trip to Seoul, where they realized that despite the K-Beauty boom, when it came to the fragrance, there was little to no Korean representation. That is, until ELOREA.

Welcome to the perfume room. My center of the day today is Crumb Couture from Sniff. Now, if you remember a previous solo episode, I feel like this was like a year ago at this point, but you all wanted

0:22.1

to hear my trend predictions for the upcoming year. And I talked specifically about this

0:26.5

genre of the in-between gourmand. I'm talking weedy sense, brettie sense, nutty sense,

0:32.4

milky sense, those scents that are not quite dessert, but in that confectionery realm. And you know what?

0:39.9

I mean, there have been some notable releases in the last few months. K.L.E. Pistachio

0:44.4

gelato came out, then Crumb Couture from Sniff. So not to tutelute my own horn, but I will say,

0:52.6

I wasn't wrong. Anyway, you know I love this genre of fragrance,

0:56.4

and specifically a croissant fragrance, my God, I love it. Couch lutein, Je de Poe, one of my faves.

1:01.9

So I was elated for a new flaky croissant scent to hit the market, and sniff generously sent me

1:06.9

a bottle to try, and I am really enjoying it. Now this one is a journey and I'm going to

1:12.2

take you all on that journey right now. Okay, so the initial spray was immediately familiar and it took

1:20.0

me a second to get my bearings, but for any fellow members of the tribe, the opening reminds me of

1:25.8

Herosate, which is like a fruit forward dish that you eat

1:28.6

specifically on Passover, which ironically is a holiday where you must avoid croissants and all

1:33.9

other leavened bread at all costs. But you know what? Herosate, as I think about it, is an in-between

1:39.2

gourmand because it's not served as dessert. It's served as like an appetizer, but it's like a sweet fruit

1:44.8

forward appetizer, and it consists of apples, chopped walnuts, honey, cinnamon, and kosher wine.

1:50.7

And that is kind of what this opening feels like. It's nutty, it's sweet, it's a little

1:54.7

spicy, has like a little fermented fruity thing going on, and somehow feels like a realistic

1:59.7

gourmand, but elevated.

2:01.7

And it all makes sense when you sort of line up what I'm getting in the horosate

2:05.5

with the actual fragrance pyramid of this note.
