I was talking to her about some work stuff, talking about Cult Leader. I'm imagining her acting like me. She's half-listening. She's like, well, she said something about being in a cult. No wonder he's so anxious all the time. Hopefully she's not half-listening. If there's one person that should probably listen on 100, it's your therapist. Anyways, everybody go to therapy.

Oh shit, I never remember all the names on the same. It's called best-selling murder. Probably my favorite that we watched. It had everything, bad boyfriends, nervous, suspicious neighbors, hot detectives,

a novelist with a drinking problem. What more could you ask for? I also watched that new Netflix movie that I feel like everyone's talking about right now. It's called I Care A Lot. Also, just so many good things. A villain who vapes. I mean, hello. 2021. Welcome to the 21st century of villains, everybody vapes. She's got a bob. There's retirement homes. Truly a must watch. Oscar buzz. That's all I'm saying. Alright, shall we get to the good stuff, the bad stuff? Here's the plugs.

2:34.0

It's one of if not the most infamous cases of I got away with murder ever. I mean the Bronco, the hearings, the brutality, it's heavy, it's infamous. There's a lot of really interesting bizarre series that I want to kind of go through the down the rabbit hole today. I feel like most of you are probably already somewhat familiar with the basics of today's story.

2:56.0

But I'm sure there's also a lot of you who have heard the name OJ Simpson. Maybe you've heard of the story, but aren't super familiar. So we'll try and keep it tidy and chronological as much as possible. And then we'll get into some of the stuff that's generally been looked over by the media.

3:12.0

The lame stream media. Let's go. Let's go way back. Let's take it to the beginning. We'll start with the childhood of OJ Simpson.

3:22.0

Orenthal James Simpson was born on July 9th of 1947 in San Francisco, California. Wow, Bay Area represent. Well, don't represent. To Jimmy, a chef and part-time bank custodian and his mother unis who was a hospital administrator.

3:38.0

The name Orenthal was bestowed on him by one of his aunts and it was the name of a French actor who she adored. Though for the entirety of his life, he was always referred to as OJ.

3:48.0

Supposedly, he didn't even actually know his own name was Orenthal until he was in the third grade and a new teacher read the name out loud.

3:56.0

Which I'm sure was perplexing. He's like, I don't know who that is. Do you remember just sitting there waiting when they were reading like roll or whatever the teachers were doing roll call? And you just were sitting there?

4:07.0

Like, please let me say my name at the right time. Please let me say it normally. No, just just me. No, you really, you really. If you're listening to this, you are probably the same as me.

4:18.0

The childhood was rough. When OJ was just four years old, his parents separated and Unis was left alone to raise OJ and his three siblings. He had a brother Melvin and sister Shirley and Carmelita.

4:29.0

In addition to the separation, OJ had developed rickets, which caused bone softening as part of the condition. And it's often found in children in a constant growth.

4:39.0

As a result, he had to wear braces on his legs until he was around five years old. The family lived in the projects of San Francisco's Petrero Hill neighborhood.

4:47.0

And I'm not exactly certain where the father Jimmy moved to when he moved out of the apartment, although I know for sure he was still nearby in the city.

4:56.0

So actually, here's a little tea for you guys allegedly Jimmy was a drag queen that went by the name Mama Simpson. His father's life has always been a long debated topic in the press.

5:08.0

And biographies written about the family. There was this book called the Lies of OJ Simpson that was written by this guy George Kaposi Jr. who first made the public claim.

5:17.0

In the book, he cites an anonymous source and quotes them saying Mama Simpson as he was known to me used to hang around the hotel where I lived and was frequently dressed in drag and everyone knew it was OJ's dad.
