Summary

As the old saying goes: where there's a Will, there's a way...to end up in jail? In book five of the Kit series, our hero wants nothing more than to hit the road. After meeting Will, a self-described hobo traveling the country, Kit longs for adventure and a break from chores. Kit gets more than she bargained for, however, when she hops a train and only gets as far as the local jail. We discuss Kit's anti-carceral state activism, the hobo code of conduct, and the durability of Saves the Day tropes. Fans of Love is Blind will want to tune in for our review of season three of the series; fans of Kit's Aunt Millie should also be sure to give this one a listen, just because she said so.

they're not interested. How? So we decided to send out our pitch to have hobo

0:17.5

hieroglyphics be a new language and shockingly. They did send me back a reply to my hobo hieroglyphics

0:25.0

email in standard, I guess we could call it American English and they actually just literally

0:30.0

said no and I thought it first like well maybe I need to run that through like my hieroglyphics

0:35.0

reader like I'm missing something but they also just wrote in crayon on the side of a building

0:40.0

and oh which actually does just still translate as no. That is so bleak and honestly so rude in a

0:46.8

world where wingding still exists. Yes.

Welcome everyone to Duolingo's of our lives. This is the podcast where we're reliving the

hieroglyphics added. Do you have like a hobo name for this episode? You know I do not but I

1:15.1

have been looking through my glossary because I really thought that we were going to make a lot

1:20.0

of jack off of this idea that's right hand for money in the code it does turn out that we're not.

1:26.0

I thought we were going to record this in the jungle aka hobo village and or get 100 aka

1:33.4

some beans but that did not take place. No we are going to have to record this episode of kit

1:40.6

saves the day just in like standard American English like our own accents our own code we've

1:46.7

learned a lot through like exploring the jungle as you say with kit but that we it can't go any

further much like the train that she has to like hide from on the bridge. Damn honestly this book made

1:59.2

me laugh like uncontrollably several times and then also led me to a place where I was like watching

2:05.5

actual self-described hobos like documenting their trips on trains in 2022 on YouTube.
