0:39.0	Christian, who is coming of age in 1980s London. Christian has left his home in Norway, and he is now
0:46.1	in the UK navigating art school and intimacies and friendships. And without giving too much away,
0:53.6	there is a pivotal event that unfolds in the
0:56.8	streets of London. It involves Christian, and it changes his life forever. The School of Night also uses
1:05.5	as a central illusion, Dr. Faustus, the famous play by Elizabethan writer Christopher Marlowe, who was, of course,
1:13.6	a rival of William Shakespeare and an influence on Shakespeare. Christopher Marlowe died young
1:19.1	at, I believe, the age of 29, and William Shakespeare went on to become William Shakespeare.
1:27.0	So Christian, the protagonist of the School of
1:30.1	Night, is a young man in London in the 1980s, trying to make a name for himself as an artist.
1:37.3	And this novel is a very fascinating and macabre and riveting and unsettling story of ambition and fate and morality and the nature
