Hi, this is Dave. And this is John. And welcome to episode 100 of Geek's Guide to the Galaxy.

Our guest today is astronaut Chris Hatfield, the first Canadian to walk in space, and also the first Canadian to command the International Space Station. Many of the videos he posted while in orbit became internet sensations, especially his Zero-gravity rendition of the David Bowie song

Space Oddity, which has been viewed over 20 million times on YouTube. His memoir,

An astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth is out now.

We also have an announcement to make,

so if you've been listening to the show this past year,

you'll know that I've been handling more and more of the interviews myself

and that John hasn't always been able to make it to all

the panels.

In light of that, John's decided that episode 100 would be a good time for him to officially

step down as full-time co-host.

He'll be staying on as our producer, us line up guests and think-up panel

topics, and he'll continue to appear as a regular guest geek. On a practical level, I don't know if things

will really change all that much, but this will just give us more flexibility in terms

of scheduling recording sessions without having to worry as much about John's availability.

As you might imagine, hosting a podcast takes up a lot of time, and John is going to be really

busy this coming year with some

major projects some of which we can't officially announce yet but when we do you

will definitely be excited and you'll definitely understand why he's going to be

so busy. And so for our panel today, we'll be putting the focus on the show itself and just taking a look
