episode. We're going to talk about a story tonight that occurred in my own backyard. Well, not literally,

but a stone's throw away from where I grew up. When I was younger, my parents warned me not to talk to strangers and to never wander too far out of their view.

I can look back on that now and see that they were trying to protect me.

Some children, however, aren't as fortunate when it comes to being protected from the evil of the world.

I wish I could give you a name for the boy we're about to discuss, but I can't.

This is the story of The Boy in the Box.

On February 25, 1957, a college student by the name of Frederick Benosis was walking off of

Suswana Road in the Foxchase

section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, when he spotted a large cardboard box.

When he opened this box, he at first thought it was a doll inside, but he soon realized that

this was no doll, but a child.

It was the body of a small boy, somewhere between the ages of four to six.

He was naked and wrapped in a plaid blanket. This, however, was not the first discovery of the

boy. Two days beforehand, on February 23rd, a young man checking on his muskrat traps in the area,

found the child.

But he never told police about the body until after the news of his discovery broke in the media.

His fear was that he would get into trouble due to the fact that his muskrat traps that he had placed were illegal.

It actually wouldn't be until February 26 that the police were officially notified about the body.

But Nosis admitted he waited a day because the reason he was even in that area and came across the boy

was because he was spying on women at the Good Shepherd School that was nearby.

This child, who is commonly referred to as the boy in the box, or America's unknown child, had fair skin, stood at three feet, three inches in height, weighed about 30 pounds, which is very light for a child of his suspected age.
