This is John Batchelor, conversation about Canada and NATO with Conrad Black, distinguished

biographer and helping me understand Canada's political position with the Carney government.

The question is, does the Carney government continue the opinion of the Trudeau government,

that it is the same party, that climate change is the number

one national security threat to Canada, as opposed to Russia opening up the sea lanes in China,

joining Russia in making claims and certainly showing up routinely in the Arctic seas,

which abut Canadian territory.

Conrad speculates he doesn't have evidence,

but he believes that Prime Minister Carney will not continue that opinion and act upon it, and there are other things that can be done chiefly deal with the germans

who come begging for Canadian energy. Here's Conrad Black to explain where we are now with

Will it be again for the Carney government?

It was by Justin Trudeau, and it may be personally by Carney, but I think he knows, he can read the polls as well as he can,

and he knows the people aren't there and don't believe it.

And so my guess is that he is going to come up with some sort of combination of doing what he can and publicizing it as much as he can on the climate

side and and on the other hand saying what we're just going to have to defer that we'll get to

it but but we can't do it right now and and the first sign of that is, we talked about it, I believe,

last week that there is this understanding emerging between the oil-producing provinces in the

country, Alberta and Saskatchewan, and the federal government and the other provinces.
