Hey, welcome to Day 13 of Summer of Scripture.

We're in the book of First Chronicles today to look at one of the shortest and most famous

prayers in the Bible, especially for those of you who remember, gosh, I guess it's been

20 years ago, a book came out an entire book about this one verse and the character

and the prayer in it.

And the character's name is Jbez.

It's been known as the Prayer of Jbez, which is found in First Chronicles, chapter

four, verse 10, which says this, Jbez was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, oh,

that you would bless me and expand my territory.

Please be with me in all that I do and keep me from evil, keep me from trouble and pain.

And God granted him his request.

One of those translations of that verse says, keep me from evil so that I might not cause

pain, which I think is kind of a profound way of working at that.
