I'm going to highlight a marvelous paragraph from a paper on real-world evidence by Christopher

Booth and colleagues that appeared in Nature Review's clinical oncology.

I'm going to make one point about the recently announced resignation of Dr. Scott Gottlieb from

the U.S. Food and Drug Administration who resigned as FDA commissioner.

And this is to do with what is the metric by which we ought to judge the success of the U.S.

FDA. Finally, we're going to talk the success of the U.S. FDA?

Finally, we're going to talk to Dr. Deborah Cohen. Dr. Cohen is Professor of Family

Medicine here at OHSU. She is a leading researcher in qualitative and quantitative methods

to assess whether or not clinician patient communication is meaningful, whether or not it's changing practice,

and whether or not it's leading to real improvements.

And she's going to talk about whether or not EHR data can realistically be used for meaningful

improvement.
