driving story now is a headline. U.S. blacklist 29 more Chinese companies over alleged

forced labor in Xinjiang. Products of offending firms range from

high-tech inputs such as polysilicon to food products like tomato paste. This according to Homeland

Security for the Biden administration. Who are the Uyghurs and what is the Chinese authority

doing to them that is described as forced labor?

The Uyghurs people have been in the news in the recent years for a reason that they have been subjected to modern-day genocide and enslavement in the global supply chain.

United States government responded for the atrocity crimes committed against the Uighur people by the Chinese Communist Party in January 2021,

calling the atrocities as genocide and crimes against humanity.

And the current administration quickly agreed with that determination made by then Secretary Pompeo

and followed through the initiatives started by the

first Trump administration.

So the Uyghur issues, specifically how the United States responds on the ongoing genocide,

ongoing forced labor practices, and also importantly using technology to advance or intensify the crackdown have been something that the U.S. government has been very focused.

Number of export control initiatives being decisions have been announced including adding Chinese medical

military medical academy and its 11 affiliates to the entity list by the commerce department
