Good morning, everybody. Happy Friday to you, January 17th, 2025. It's Dave Neal, and this is your morning rush hour ride to work. We have a very

special episode for you today, a great interview. Normally, I save my interview episodes for the

weekend, but we don't have that kind of time. I talked with V from Under the Desk News. They've got

millions of subscribers across multiple platforms.

Their life was changed during the pandemic and became sort of a viral sensation, really.

I was actually more, not nervous, but excited to talk to V because if you've ever been on

the TikTok app, I get more of my news from V and so much sent to me to cover

because they're right on top of all of the big stories out there. So what's going on? Well,

Sunday TikTok was set to shut down. The Supreme Court upheld a ruling that said they got to go.

And V has been fighting saying, no, there's a lot of misinformation out there about

what TikTok is. I mean, a lot of people, a lot of content creators, not just the ones that are

big and fancy making a ton of money, but a lot of the smaller content creators and small-time

journalists are on TikTok. You have to remember, folks like me, you know, wouldn't be able to

tell the stories that I tell

if we didn't have these social media apps and YouTube to kind of be there as freelancers in

independent news. You know, most newspapers are gone these days. So the only way to get information

out and actually have like a sort of a peer-to-peer network is through this social media.

It's a very, very big deal.

So to be able to talk to the today, days before TikTok is set to be banned is incredible.
