U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin informed the White House yesterday that's for the very first time.

He was in fact diagnosed with prostate cancer,

the fact that he hid from the commander-in-chief for

over a month. So here is what we know. In early December, Mr Austin had a

regular screening for prostate cancer and doctors found evidence that in fact he had it. He then

decided to undergo a surgical procedure that removed all or part of his prostate.

For many men that can be a very difficult choice, sometimes embarrassing, because it can lead to impotence.
