I am so excited today to have Laura Votter on and I've been a fan of hers for a very long time

because this job is hard.

This job is very hard.

You can give a piece of yourself to medicine every day and it doesn't always give back.

You can lose yourself in this job.

You should not give your entire life away because it's not going to love you back.

And that's hard to say because I love medicine.

There are times that it brings me such joy and there are also times where it brings me such heartache

and there have been times in my life where I've given so much of myself away that I have nothing left.

And being human in medicine means a lot of things.

It is acknowledging the truth, making relationships, and taking care of yourself.

Laura Votter is fabulous.
