Summary

From an early age Rupert Spira was deeply interested in the nature of reality. For twenty years he studied the teachings of P.D.Ouspensky, J.Krishnamurti, Rumi, Shankaracharya, Ramana Maharshi, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj and Robert Adams, until he met his teacher, Francis Lucille, in 1996. Francis introduced Rupert to the teachings of Jean Klein and Atmanada Krishnamenon and, more importantly, directly indicated to him the true nature of experience. The Welcome to Buddha at the gas pump. My name is Rick Archer and my guest this week is Rupert Spira. And I had the pleasure of meeting Rupert and his lovely wife and his brother Andrew out at the Science

and Non-Nualty Conference in California a couple of weeks ago. Thanks again to generous donors

0:44.4

that made that possible for me. And I'm really pleased to be speaking with Rupert. I very

0:49.8

much enjoyed your presentations at the conference and I'm really enjoying reading your book,

0:56.0

the transparency of things. I understand you have a more recent book.

1:00.0

What I like about your book is that as I read it, I'm actually reading each little section.

1:07.0

It consists of very short paragraphs, usually one or two sentences.

1:11.6

And I find I tend to read each one two or three times and kind of settle down with each

1:17.6

reading and it's almost like a meditation practice or a mantra or something.

which I imagine was your intention in writing the book.

1:41.0

Exactly.

1:42.0

That's exactly how I hoped it would be read.

1:45.9

It's not a book for reading cover to cover.

1:49.2

As you say, it was written almost one sentence to a paragraph.

1:53.4
