cheaper than their petrol alternatives. This is in the UK, and CAP HPI's

analysis reveals that after three years, the average electric car is 8.5% less expensive than a similar

petrol or diesel vehicle. This gap widens to 14% when the cars are four years old.

The rapid advancements in EV technology and lingering consumer doubts about older models have contributed to depreciation, often halving the value of some EVs within the first two years.

This depreciation creates opportunities for bargain hunters in the used EV field.

I bought my Polestar 2 back in January,

my buddy, Evie Nick, Nick, Nick, Rameau, sourced it from an auction in Manchester for me,

and I paid 24,000 and something pounds for my Polestar 2, which I thought was a bargain at the time.

I've since seen it depreciate a little bit more.

But still, that I could have gone out and at least and bought a brand new pole star. I've been very happy.

But I got some older technology. And I'm still delighted with the car that I got now.

Whoever had that car, maybe it is a business or individual to begin with, took a big hit on depreciation with that pole star. I did the Hyundai Kona that I was coming out of, my dad's old Kona. I had that for 12 months and sold that on,

and that, you know, I lost a lot of money on that in a year. So it swings and roundabouts.

Now, let's look at specific examples. A three-year-old Vauxhall Corsa Ultimate with 36,000 miles on the clock costs £9,925 for the petrol. You can get an electric one right now at $8,750, over £1,000 less. This is despite the electric model being £6,000 more expensive when both of those three-year-old cars were brand new.
