Here's one in Washington, the state of Washington. Joseph Kennedy, that's the name, sounds familiar, but it's not that Kennedy. He's a Washington State High School football coach who lost his job. And the reason he did because he was leading students in midfield prayers after the game. And he sued. And he's going to get $1.7 million

and his job back. It's the Bremerton School Board voted unanimously last week to accept this

settlement, which follows the U.S. Supreme Court split decision last June that the prayer groups that Kennedy

had were protected by the First Amendment. So here's the story. Kennedy had coached at Bremerton

high school since 2008. He began praying alone on the 60-yard line after the games, and eventually

students and players joined him. And then he began giving

talks with religious references. I mean, it was like giving sermons. And so what happened was

the school suspended him in 2015, seven years later. And then his contract wasn't renewed.

And he never reapplied for the job because he said, or he said, don't bother so he sued the district his attorneys at the first liberty institute is a non-profited conservative group that it's a legal organization that files lawsuits all the time took the case and took it up to the Supreme Court. So here was the argument.

Kennedy said the prayers were private acts of faith.

The school district said student involvement broke the Constitution prohibition on separation of church and state

and government officials, which they figured he was, because he was a teacher, promoting a religion.

And as you can imagine, the six conservative justices on the court sided with Kennedy,
