A very wise fellow Lutheran pastor years ago made this observation.

He said when it comes to so many of these cultural, moral,

and theological issues,

we Lutheran stand behind a dike and that dike is in many ways the only thing between us and

well the torrents of our culture as it grows crazier and crazier.

He said that dike is the Roman Catholic Church.

They are there and if they fall the rest of us get swept away in the tide.

They are standing against these cultural winds and waves and we benefit from their strong stance.
