Let's start with some big breaking news from the car industry and Nissan facing financial losses

amidst a lack of EVs in their lineup, one of the early original adopters of EVs.

Nissan is having to make tough choices yesterday to be fit for their electric future.

Nissan's CEO, Makoto Uchida, described the company's current situation yesterday as,

and I quote, extremely tough.

Now, yesterday, Uchida unveiled plans to cut 9,000 jobs, reduce production capacity,

and sell Nissan steak in Mitsubishi Motors, well, part of it anyway, as part of their crisis plan.

These changes arise as Nissan, the third largest automaker in Japan, and selling only the ARIA EV really in any numbers, and even then, and the next generation leaf is still some time away, is now struggling with falling sales and profits amidst a lack of any compelling electric vehicles to bring to the market, really.

Well, Uchida took over from an early believer in EVs, Carlos Gown, remember him, and he has presided on a modern-day Nissan, which wanted to distance itself from its alliance partner,

Renault, just as the French manufacturer completely dialed up their investment into EV development,

battery production. Now we have Renault coming with the Renault 4, Rena 5, new Twingo at the other end,

all of the things like the scenic and the McGahn and so many in their

lineup. And, well, their old best buddy, Nissan. And I know the ownership structure was uneven
