President Trump hits the road as the White House works to steady voter confidence on the economy. While wages and inflation show improvement, layoffs and weak manufacturing numbers create new political pressure.

In Minnesota, the billion-dollar Somali fraud scandal widens, raising fresh questions for state leaders. New twists emerge in the Capitol pipe bomber case as lawmakers challenge the FBI's past testimony.

Debate intensifies over Trump's drone strikes in the Caribbean, with Democrats and Sen. Rand Paul pushing for full transparency. Trump also expresses regret over his pardon of Rep. Henry Cuellar after the congressman reenters the race.

On the immigration front, illegal aliens now face steep federal fines, and New York's release of violent offenders sparks renewed controversy. Meanwhile, a surprising new poll shows many Mexicans open to US military action against cartels, setting up a major geopolitical storyline.

House do show a softening of support for the president and his

economic agenda, although Mr. Trump is not so fully convinced of that. He says that there is no

affordability crisis out there, as some people say, no, no, that is a trap, he argues, set by Democrats

1:06.6

intent on downplaying his economic achievements. Still, though, White House aides have convinced

1:11.7

in that he's got to show some sympathy and acknowledgement of the inflation, even though,

1:16.4

yeah, it's largely driven by Joe Biden and the Democrat Party from years gone by. And so he is

1:22.2

off to Pennsylvania tomorrow to feel your pain, but not too much, because actually he says

1:26.9

there is a lot of good

1:28.5

economic news to celebrate. So let's talk about whether or not he is right this morning.

1:33.4

Regarding wages, Market Watch reports that he's got a pretty good point. Hourly wages are now

1:38.6

comfortably ahead of inflation, which is now effectively under control at about 2.8%, a little bit hotter than what the Fed would like,

1:46.0

but there you go. Still, this comes after years of skyrocketing inflation under the Joe Biden

1:51.1

administration, which, as we all remember, hit upwards of 9% inflation. So we've got some Biden

catch-up to do, as it were. Plus, we should know that while wages are now exceeding
