Summary

Our lives are dominated by convenience and ease. Nearly every product we are marketed and every service we are sold has the intention of making our lives easier in some way. There is a limit to the benefits of living this privileged life, and over that limit is what Theodore Roosevelt called, “A life of slothful ease.” To improve — at hunting and at life — we must be intentional about embracing some level of suffering. Steel becomes strong by suffering through the heat of fires; it is shaped by repeated blows.
