Today, I wanted to talk to you about some concepts that I have given a lot of thought

to over the years, and it's around the idea of how to create a more eco-friendly landscaping

garden.

And as I was putting these thoughts together, these concepts, I call them tenants, actually,

and there are seven that I'm going to share with you today.

But from that, I wrote my second book called the Green Gardner's Guide, with a subtitle

of simple, significant actions to protect and preserve the planet.

But the essence of the book really is around the seven tenants that I believe are critical

to be a better environmental steward in our gardens and our landscapes.

And you know, the irony of it is, as gardeners and we can warriors, you know, we do so many

things to create these beautiful spaces and landscapes and gardens, they're gorgeous.

But the irony part is that along the way, we do a lot of not-so-pretty things to make

them that way, such as overuse of water and pesticides and fertilizers and different

chemicals and bringing in exotic plants when we could opt for a native alternative and

over-consumption on how we do what we do and not sharing what we know enough, you know,

just little things that really add up.
