Hi everybody, it's Joe Lampel, the Joe Behind Joe Gardner, and welcome to the Joe Gardner

Show.

As you likely know by now on this podcast, or if you're new, we talk about all things

gardening related from what to grow and how to grow it, organic gardening techniques,

especially with pest and disease control, and how to have fewer weeds in your garden

and so much more.

And while we often talk about edible gardening, we've yet to talk about the history and

some of the fun facts behind some of those plans.

Well, that is until today, because today we're speaking with a good friend of the show

and frequent guest expert to this podcast, and that's Dr. Jeff Gilman.

We love Jeff because he's all about the science behind the gardening, and so we can always

count on Jeff to give a solid science-based information.

But what you may not know about Jeff, and I didn't really know this either, is that he

is also a really big plant history enthusiast, maybe a geek, you might want to say, he'd

be fine with that, I think.

He loves to learn the stories behind many of the plants that we eat.

So it should come as no surprise that he spends a lot of his free time researching that information.
