When I lived in the desert of Nevada in the Southwestern US, it was beautiful...but...there was a HUGE lack of color. All the colors blended together. NOT ugly...but no variety. The same is similar where I live in Chicago--but it's quite different. Today's expression will help you classify a group of colors--browns, yellows, oranges...greens, some grayish-blues--colors that you see in your natural environment! In most cases, they are beautiful colors, but not colors you really want to wear! It's raining where I am--all day! I love it! I hope you are having a super day where you are! 0:27.5	This is not really an expression.
0:29.3	It's a way to describe color.
0:31.9	So obviously in this world there are so many different colors.
0:41.3	But many people in America, especially in the southwest. I used to live in Nevada near Las Vegas. People there really like earthy colors.
0:50.8	Earthy, E-A-R-T-H-Y, colors.
0:54.8	So what are earthy colors?
0:57.8	Well, colors that look like the environment where you live.
1:05.7	So when I lived in the desert,
1:09.1	earthy colors were the colors of the sand,
1:12.8	the desert sand,
1:14.3	the desert mountains.
1:16.4	That's the idea of earthy colors.
1:18.4	Lots of browns, almost a yellow,
1:21.1	even sometimes in orange or a dark brown,
1:24.1	almost a black.
1:25.3	Those were earthy colors.
1:31.7	But now I live in Chicago. And in the Chicago area,
