Summary

Have you been on a purging kick as much as we have? If not, we want to tell WHY you should jump on this train with us and give you some starting points on where to start.  We have all either been, or seen a teacher who carries their “life” with them. You all know what we mean, the dreaded “teacher” bags that have every resource you need. It’s that bag that you end up packing up at the end of the day but never doing anything with it.  So why get away from having so much stuff? Compare your bags to the idea of stress or weight that you are carrying, metaphorically. This is stress that you are taking with you back and forth from home and school. You are not able to escape it and therefore you have a constant reminder of the tasks you feel as though you should be doing instead of unwinding after a long day.  The good news is that operating with less stuff is possible and in fact it allows you to be more creative and even DO MORE. Yup, we said it. You can do more with less! In this episode we share: Why it’s important to minimize in order to feel less stressed.  How to begin minimizing what you are using. How less items can help build the separation from home and work.  What more “stuff” is teaching our students.  How more stuff is affecting our mental health. my favorite things for the past

0:21.0

couple of years and a journey that I definitely have been working on myself, both personally

0:26.9

and professionally and talking about minimizing. So we're going to be sharing how you can do

more with less today. Oh, so good. I'm so excited. My car is currently full of boxes,

0:40.7

the backseat and the trunk that I need to take and donate because I have been on a minimizing

kick lately. And I have to say it makes me feel so good. But first, we're going to hear a TSA from

Michelle W. not me.

0:55.1

Michelle says, waiting through all the resources, files, and options when planning for the week.

1:01.2

I understand that seems like a terrible complaint when some teachers would do anything for more resources.

1:07.2

But it can be time consuming to go through all the available options before finally deciding on which ones are best for each day slash lesson.

1:16.3

How do you overcome this?

1:18.7

Listen, more isn't always better.

1:21.9

Right?

1:22.5

Like, do you agree with that?

1:23.8

Like, I feel like sometimes when I have so much stuff, it almost just fogs my brain down.

1:32.0

And I think, you know, going through that process of just trying to minimize stuff and just getting

1:36.7

and flushing some of the things out that you know for a fact that you're not going to use and stop

saying to yourself, but what if one day, no, if you don't need it now, you don't need it

later. If you're going to, you've got to kind of flush out all of the excess items in order to
