I talked a little bit about a situation in Salonagnino, Texas, where the U.S. Department of Homeland Security

was trying to buy up a small nature preserve on the banks of the Rio Grande, run by an

organization called the Valley Land Fund. If you're an old-time South Texas birder, you might

remember way back that it used to be an RV park, and that the

last residence of that park, Gail and Pat DeWind, had a nice little feeder set up. It was

notably the last reliable spot north of the river for Brown Jays, a bird that has not been seen

in the aviation area since then, honestly. After the DeWins retired from a life of bird feeding, the land was donated to the Valley

Land Fund who developed it with some signs and some trails. It was a nice little birding spot

right on the river. Anyway, the Department of Homeland Security wanted this little piece of

property to build the border wall. It was this little tiny gap between property that
