| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to the Thursday May 10th 2018 edition of Tesla Daily Unofficial |
| 0:11.7 | Tesla Podcast. |
| 0:13.0 | My name is Rob Mower. Today we are talking about a survey from AAA on electric vehicles, |
| 0:17.2 | as well as new regulation in California on solar. |
| 0:20.2 | Tesla stock on Wednesday finished up 1.62% to $306.85, this compared to the Nasdac up 1.0%. |
| 0:28.5 | Okay, so looking at this survey from AAA, my understanding is that AAA does a survey every year and one of the questions |
| 0:34.7 | that it asks responders is whether or not their next vehicle purchase is likely to be an |
| 0:40.0 | electric vehicle. In this year's survey 20% of responders said that their next |
| 0:44.4 | vehicle purchase would likely be an EV that's up from 15% for 2017. This survey |
| 0:49.8 | was done within the US and AAA says that that would extrapolate to 50 million car |
| 0:54.0 | buyers that intend to purchase an EV as their next vehicle. |
| 0:58.0 | It's also impressive the year over year growth in that response rate from 15% to 20%. |
| 1:03.0 | It shows that the mainstream appeal of electric vehicles |
| 1:06.0 | is growing and growing very rapidly. |
| 1:09.0 | The only problem with that is that |
| 1:11.0 | I'm not sure where 50 million Americans are going to find an electric vehicle to purchase. |
| 1:15.0 | For the last few years, light vehicle sales in the United States have been around 17 million annually. |
| 1:20.0 | Using the 20% from the survey, that would indicate that 3.5 million of those 17 million |
| 1:25.2 | would be seeking an electric vehicle. So in the next few years Tesla should be at 500,000 |
| 1:30.3 | to a million annually and if we add up all of the other production |
| 1:33.8 | between the Leaf, the Bolt, the I-Pase, |
| 1:36.7 | whatever BMW comes up with, whatever V-V-W come up with, |
... |
