Summary
Monday brought yet another big headline for college basketball. It's the offseason, coronavirus is still very much a threat to the United States, but the news cycle in college hoops will now slow. Louisville announced it had received its notice of allegations from the NCAA. There is one Level I allegation and a few more Level II charges, including a notable one against former coach Rick Pitino. This episode gets into the news and provides a bit more clarity on what's to come for Louisville and why this case is different from every other one under the broader umbrella of NCAA infractions cases tied to the Department of Justice's probe into college hoops recruiting.

| 0:00.0 | Hey there, it's Gary Merchants Monday, May 4, 2020. Welcome back to the CBS Sports |
| 0:12.5 | Eye on College Basketball Podcast, where we sometimes discuss, camouflage, and leaky |
| 0:17.7 | black. Matt Norlander is here with me and we learned earlier today that Louisville has |
| 0:21.4 | received a notice of allegations from the NCAA. It includes one level one violation that |
| 0:27.8 | involves improper recruiting offers. There are three level two violations, including one |
| 0:32.3 | against a former Louisville coach, Hall of Fame coach Rick Patino. He got the failure |
| 0:36.9 | to promote an atmosphere of compliance violations. So, Norlander, what I want to do is talk |
| 0:42.9 | about these in two parts. First, what does it mean for Louisville? Then what does it mean |
| 0:46.8 | for Rick Patino, who is, of course, the head basketball coach at Iona. So, Norlander, |
| 0:52.3 | let's start with question number one. What does this mean for Louisville? |
| 0:55.9 | I just love opening the pod with these big old broad ones. What it means for Louisville |
| 1:00.7 | is that it is in the crosshairs of, to me, the most interesting. And I don't think that |
| 1:08.3 | most damaging. I don't think that when we get through all of these cases with the NCAA, |
| 1:13.5 | and as a reminder, Louisville is just the next one down the assembly line here. We've |
| 1:16.7 | already seen NC State, which was the first one, Kansas, which is a significant one. USC, |
| 1:22.5 | Oklahoma State, Creighton has an announced yet, but I believe Creighton's had some. And |
| 1:27.2 | some have still not gotten yet. Auburn, LSU, Arizona, those schools haven't received |
| 1:30.6 | them yet. So Louisville is just the next in line. Just so everyone's clear, this is clearly |
| 1:33.9 | tied to all of the Department of Justice and the FBI stuff. But what it means, I think |
| 1:39.5 | is interesting because Louisville is a repeat offender as a program in general. Okay. And |
| 1:46.6 | we'll come to learn if that means something or not in terms of, like I said, three transgressions |
| 1:51.4 | against the NCAA rule books since 1996. Now we enter, enter into a new era of adjudication, |
