1:01.3	theological views that spring out of this passage. This and other passages because both views
1:08.5	look at all the passages in scripture surrounding spiritual gifts to come to their conclusion about
1:15.2	whether or not spiritual gifts such as healing, prophecy, and tongues continue today or whether
1:23.1	they cease. Yes, we are going to be talking about cessationism and continuationism.
1:31.3	When I was planning out my notes for this episode, I had some ideas for how to begin, but then I
1:37.1	thought, you know what, let's just read 1 Corinthians 13 because we're going to really be looking
1:42.1	at this as we discuss the two sides of this conversation. And I think it's great to begin with
1:47.9	the text. So that's what we're going to do. If you want to follow along, 1 Corinthians 13, we're
1:53.4	going to read the whole thing. If you've been to a wedding recently, maybe you already heard it.
1:58.3	It's the popular love passage. So believe it or not, it talks a lot about spiritual gifts too.
2:04.4	And it says, if I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy
2:10.8	gong or a clinging symbol. And if I have prophetic powers and understand all mysteries and all
2:16.4	knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but I have not love, I am nothing.
