| 0:30.8 | to July 4th of 1967. A man named Hugh Redman was locked up in a Chinese |
| 0:36.2 | prison. On occasion, his captors had allowed him to write back to his family in New York City, |
| 0:42.1 | and on Independence Day of 1967 he did and he wrote |
| 0:45.8 | this. |
| 0:46.8 | It just dawned on me he said that today is the 4th of July. |
| 0:51.2 | Did you have a big celebration with fireworks and all? As was typical of |
| 0:55.1 | Hugh, he went on to ask how his mother was doing, the latest in the world of |
| 0:59.2 | sports, especially baseball, and he wanted to know how his nephews were doing as well. |
| 1:04.0 | Don't forget he said to buy ice cream for the children. |
| 1:08.0 | He then closed out that final letter saying the very best regards to you all |
| 1:12.0 | love Hugh. |
| 1:14.3 | Unfortunately, his family never heard from him again. |
| 1:17.5 | Three years later, the communist government in Beijing |
| 1:19.9 | claimed that he had died of suicide. |
