I'm in the hands-on, kind of exhausting phase of motherhood where I have little children.

I have two kids, one who's six and one who's three and I hope to have more kids.

And so, they still really need me and want me. And sometimes that can feel really overwhelming.

But then I talk to my friends who have older children, preteens or teenagers.

And I realize that this phase of my life where I can solve my kids problems really is such a charmed moment in time.

Because my friends have teenagers who are facing really big, really serious struggles, some of them, and they won't talk to their parents about it.

Or even those who aren't facing major things, they're just kind of going through these phases, they're figuring themselves out and they're pushing their parents away.

And as a mom whose kids think I am just the greatest right now, it's kind of heartbreaking for me to think about that in just a few years, they're not going to want to hang out with me every second.

And that does give me a little bit of perspective.
