And so a lot of times clients if they're less experienced they'll come to you and they'll tell you what they want and you got to figure out what they need. Earlier this year I was speaking at Adobe Video World and gave a talk called

win over clients. There's a moment where I ask, how much are you worth as I survey everybody?

I don't mean that in a figurative sense, I mean literally how much do you charge an hour?

So I had everyone raised their hand and said keep your hands up if you make $30 an hour or more. Few hands went down. If you make $40 an hour or more, more hands go down. How about $50 an hour or more? Hands

drop precipitously. A hundred dollars an hour more? There are few hands that are still left up,

which is a nice sign to see.

Now, I wanted everybody's hand to go down,

so I said, how many make more than $500 an hour.

Thinking to myself, that's it.

That's the one that's going to break everyone's back.

Now I've done this thing before.

Once you get to $100 an hour, very few, if any any hands are still up. But at $500 an hour, all hands are down. But there's

just one hand that is still up. All the way in the back. Who is this person? This is somebody that I need to talk to.

I had questions for him. What are you doing to earn that much? I mean can anybody be worth 500 bucks an hour or more?

How'd you do it? What's your mentality? What makes you different? Why are you worth so much more?
