The President Hey, everybody, welcome to the muscle intelligence podcast. I'm your host, Ben Pekoski. Today we're going to talk about breathing. We are doing the deep dive with Patrick McKeon. He's been on the show before of the oxygen advantage. And now do not disregard breathing and its necessity in improving your performance and your life and your health. Breathing is the most reflexive movement pattern we have.

And this is a massive necessity if you want to improve every aspect of life.

And take it for me, someone who really neglected this through my entire career.

The benefit I've seen has been nothing short of life changing.

You know, I was introduced to breathing for the first time in yoga, and I started to become

very curious.

And I just noticed the incredible ability to calm you down, change your ability to focus.

And then the opposite into that, change your ability to become more stimulated.

And breath seems to be the gateway to the autonomic nervous system.

So our ability to control the stress response, if we want to have an increased amplification of stress, let's say if we're getting ready to train, we're getting to the lothargic, instead of reaching for that pre-workout of that coffee, we just go to the breath.

Conversely, when we're done our workout, you know I've become the world's biggest advocate of taking five minutes after your workout to breathe, calm yourself down, bring yourself back down into a parasympathetic

state, elicit that response of rest and digest after a workout.
