Most of us have heard of the concept of the five love languages.

Originally based on the book by Gary Chapman, this philosophy says that each of us has a natural way that we prefer to give and receive love.

Some of us feel loved when we receive words of affirmation.

I'm one of those people.

Others prefer gifts, physical touch, acts of service, or quality time.

And I think most of us wouldn't turn down acts of love from any of those categories, but it is true that we tend towards one of these languages more naturally.

In marriage, knowing your spouse's primary love language and actively trying to speak it can build connection and dissipate conflict.

But even when you know this concept and can list off the five love languages, it still sometimes feels pretty nebulous.

Like I know my husband's love language is quality time, but I'm not quite sure how to make sure that I'm meeting that need on a regular basis.
